Getting Acquainted With the Two Types of Platforms on Which Blogging Can Be Carried Out Nowadays

People seeking to take part in blogging nowadays have two major options, in terms of the types of platforms they can use.

The first type of platform on which blogging can be carried out nowadays is that which is best described as the traditional, long-format blogging platform. This is done through systems such as the Google blogger system, WordPress platform and so on. The distinguishing feature here is that the blog posts are typically long: though the actual length can vary greatly, from just a few words to tens of thousands of words.

The second type of platform on which blogging can be carried out nowadays is that which is best described as the micro-blogging platform. Here, we are looking at the likes of the Twitter platform. The distinguishing feature here is that the blog posts are extremely short: like where, in the case of Twitter, they are limited to just 140 characters. This type of blogging platform was developed out of appreciation for the fact that there were many people who wanted to share their thoughts, but who found the idea of writing the traditional lengthy blog posts off-putting. Those are the people who benefit from Twitter’s brevity. Of course, many of the people who use Twitter don’t even actually realize that they are actually ‘blogging’.
