Certain categories of people have a tendency to spend huge amounts of time on micro-blogging sites such as Twitter.

The first category of people who spend huge amounts of time on micro-blogging sites such as Twitter is that of folks who have social media strategy jobs.

The second category of people who spend huge amounts of time on micro-blogging sites such as Twitter is that of folks who simply have blogging as a hobby.

The third category of people who spend huge amounts of time on micro-blogging sites such as Twitter is that of intellectuals. These are folks who are fascinated by ideas. And since Twitter has emerged as a current ideas hub, the intellectuals end up spending quite a bit of their time there. These intellectuals are, of course, not always rich. Some are actually folks surviving on charity from government, receiving food stamps, energy assistance and perhaps money from the community services block grant funds.

The third category of people who spend huge amounts of time on micro-blogging sites such as Twitter is that of information junkies. They go to the micro-blogging sites, knowing that they may access raw information, and information analysis that they couldn’t possibly get in mainstream media: which is typically tightly controlled by almost tyrannical gatekeepers.
